Title of session:

Distributed learning in Northland - growing the network and making it work

Description:

Over the past year Northland Polytechnic has benefited from three eCDF projects to develop flexible learning at the institution. A robust network for distributed learning across the region is now emerging, underpinned by innovative approaches to learning and teaching development and support. The session reports on the cumulative effect of the eCDF projects (ITPNZ e-Capability, OSCINZ, and FLLinNZ) and how lessons learnt are informing the next phase of development.

The presentation will combine elements of project planning processes, evaluation data, observations and anecdotes, and examples of project outcomes into a 'rich description' of a complex set of interactions in an institution that faced several difficulties. It will show how Northland is 'rising to the challenge' of creating effective systems and processes for engaging staff and students in flexible and e-learning, an approach which is essential for the continued viability of the institution and its role in regional development in Northland.
