Title of session:

Good education requires good stories

Description:

Good education requires good stories, not solely stories that one receives passively, but stories in which learners are actively involved. The Internet challenges us to put people in those stories and Stephen believes e-Learning represents an opportunity to provide improved learning through storytelling.

This presentation will summarise the learning from my 2004 Flexible Learning Leader award and provide some strategies for e-educators to leverage the power of storytelling in their teaching.

Biography:

Stephen Harlow is currently an instructional designer at the Waikato Institute of Technology, having previously worked as a secondary school teacher. In 2004 he was made a Flexible Learning Leader in New Zealand and investigated the use of storytelling in e-education. He is an active blogger and is passionate about the benefits e-Learning promises when we shift from our traditional teaching paradigm.
