Title of session:

OTARA-a development tool

Description:

When developing learning resources for online or blended delivery it helps to have a framework to assist both writers and designer. OTARA is a flexible and easy-to-use framework with which to plan the resources for a topic, paper or entire programme. Simple to understand and use, the OTARA framework is a tool that practitioners can use straight out of the box. It will help with decisions on the types of resources needed for authentic learning opportunities, be they content, activities or combinations of these and other approaches. Participants will be provided with the opportunity to populate an OTARA framework with a set of indicative learning options.

Biography:

Kate has a background in tertiary libraries, educational editing, and instructional design of online material. She has a particular interest in helping teaching staff to plan well-structured online or blended courses.

Maurice has been involved in the design of tertiary courses from levels 2 to 8 for longer than he can remember. With the challenges of understanding pedagogy, technology and the subject matter, this effective tool provides some easily understood structure to the learning design process.
