Title of session:

Open Source: the next generation of eLearning - how to expand upon your existing investment and broaden participation

Description:

Learning Management Systems have become a commodity? The emergence of open source solutions such as Moodle and Sakai are driving greater choice and flexibility for educational institutions. This represents the next generation of eLearning: a growing mix of open source and commercial off-the-shelf solutions based around the needs of the organisation.

So how can you embrace the change?

The presenter will illustrate how with the use HarvestRoad HiveŽ, an independent digital repository that provides;

  • The ability to 'bridge' between existing institutions objects locked into various LMSs,
  • Act as a 'content bridge' to enable the safe transfer of course structure from one LMS to another.
  • Increase the discovery of content by integration with Moodle.

In this way an organisation's investment in content is stored in such a manner allowing for increase access promoting learning growth.
