New Zealand 's National Observatory teaches students from over 80 schools throughout New Zealand. The Observatory developed the unit standards with the New Zealand Qualifications Authority, and designed and built a teaching/learning platform. Students are taught and assessed 24/7 by online teachers. www.carterobservatory.net

Robert Shaw is a member of the Board of New Zealand's National Observatory, the Carter Observatory, and a senior lecturer at The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand. He developed for the Observatory its online teaching facility. www.robertshaw.orcon.net.nz
