Learning objects-a way forward

Description:

This presentation will discuss definitions of learning objects, their use, some examples, and where they could help us and our students.

It will also look at the development of a set of reusable learning objects that can used across discipline and across institutions (Tasmania Model)

The purpose of the session is to look at developing links between different people to aid the development of learning objects and their distribution.

Biography:

Whilst completing a Masters degree in Marketing, Alan accepted the role of Computer Consultant for the Department of Finance, Banking and Property at Massey university. The focus of his role was primarily to develop the Department's online learning resources. He is currently responsible for the Department's 63 WebCT sites covering both undergraduate and post-graduate courses, which range in class size from10 to over 900 students. In addition to founding these online courses he has also been involved in the development of several multimedia CD-roms and has been the recipient of a number of grants for further enhancement in this area. Alan is also currently a member of the Massey University group working on the NZ Open Source VLE Project.
