IntroductionITPNZ is pleased to host eFest 2006 - Moving Learning. The conference is set to highlight and inform the education sector of issues, trends and developments in eLearning. The theme of eFest 2006 is “Moving Learning” as we are now entering an era where the notion of lifelong learning, anytime, anyplace, anywhere is truly coming of age. The mobility of technology together with the combined expertise of media, communications and education is progressing the knowledge economy like never before, and it is through partnerships between business and education that we will start to realise the full potential of these exciting developments. Together, our challenge is to prepare a society where access to learning is ubiquitous, skills are transferable, and technologies both interoperable and portable. SubthemesMoving technology: The infrastructure, standards, tools and innovative technologies, which enable the evolution of the learning environment Moving learners and educational design: The foundation skills required by learners to navigate through new learning environments, approaches to how learners will manage their life-long learning opportunities (e.g. e-Portfolios), and how the design of learning and teaching practice will evolve to meet future learning contexts. Moving networks of learners: This sub-theme covers the emergence of collaborative learning (e.g. moving from individual to collaborative learning, and the methods of knowledge construction within groups of learners). It explores the movement of knowledge and information between learners, across learning communities and among institutions. Moving institutions: The leadership challenges, sector strategies and operating models which underpin the success of providing e-Learning opportunities within institutions and across networks of institutions and practitioners. Who is eFest for?eFest is for practitioners exploring the use of technology in teaching and learning, including teaching staff, course designers and developers, technologists, policymakers, decision-makers and those engaged in learning and training. Although eFest 2006 is hosted by the Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics, it is expected to be significant for those across the tertiary education sector. |
