Title of session:

Technology in teaching and learning

Category:

Conversation

Description:

The increasing use of digital technologies in teaching and learning represents a paradigm shift in education, a shift being mirrored by changing learner expectations. Digital technologies present educators with a wealth of environments and tools which can be used to foster learning and enhance teaching. However simply deploying such technologies is not enough.  In order to be effective they must be harnessed to sound pedagogy.  In this session we will explore ways in which digital technologies can support learning by providing appropriate and engaging student experiences built upon the identification of specific learning objectives (knowledge learning, conceptualisation, acquisition, etc.) and learning dimensions (initial learning phase, independence and mastery).
