Title of session:

Class response systems: enabling active student involvement and flexible teaching practice deliver extraordinary learning gains

Category:

Paper

Description:

Class response systems employ student hand-held “clickers”, or remotes, to enable students to respond to class questions dynamically, and to view group responses on a shared screen.  Software allows teachers to evaluate student and class performance continuously as well as assess course outcomes longitudinally.  Manzana represents e-Instruction, the world’s pioneer and education sector leader in class response systems.

Research shows that learning gains of 150% or more can be achieved based on effective use of questioning with appropriate feedback systems. Formative Assessment is a process by which teachers and students collect feedback on learning during the session, this feedback, in turn, adapting the ongoing session process to meet the students’ learning needs.
e-Instruction’s Methodology for Academic Progress (MAP) leverages the value of formative assessment by using simple and seamless technology.

In this vendor stream, participants will experience first hand the use of class response systems for ensuring 100% student participation, validating the understanding of key points and automating many evaluation and attendance tasks.
