This presentation will outline the initial stages of an action research study undertaken with the first cohort enrolled in the new flexible option of the Bachelor of Nursing at NorthTec. The first group of students, the first nursing group in New Zealand, began their course in February 2007. Volunteers from the group form one action group, volunteers from a group of stakeholders (ie. student support staff, nursing teachers, flexible learning team, and student mentors) form a second action group. The groups will focus on the areas of: communication/collaboration, online course design, student support strategies, course content/delivery and gain views on whether the new technologies in use meet the students' learning needs.
