Learning interventions often lack attention when it comes to the transfer of learning into practice and sustaining the desired change in knowledge, attribute or skill. However these transitions are critical when it comes to what has been achieved through different learning situations, e.g. formal and informal, individual and social or school and workplace learning.
Over the years different theoretical approaches for workplace learning, e.g. problem based, situated or experiential learning, have been developed and utilised. However these approaches often struggle when it comes to integrating various delivery media and methods in the classroom and at the workplace. Newer approaches focus on ubiquitous learning environments that integrate learning in a blended way.
The presentation provides an overview of recent workplace learning theories and their practical implications for corporate as well as tertiary education settings. Practical examples will be presented on how transitions can be addressed and supported.
