Presentation

Description:

Stories permeate our lives and more importantly the communities in which we are involved. This presentation session will briefly explore the role of story in learning and in its modern expression of digital storytelling.

Following the presentation of some digital story exemplars, a conversation will be facilitated to discuss some of the issues surrounding the use of digital storytelling in learning. Participants will also be given access to a digital storytelling resource website developed by the facilitators of this conversation. They hope that this site will contribute to the development of a NZ digital storytelling community.

She is passionate about blogging, digital storytelling and other forms of online communication which connect people. You can find out more about her here http://marica.wikispaces.com/.

Stephen Harlow is currently Information Literacy Librarian at the Waikato Institute of Technology, having previously worked as an instructional designer and a secondary school teacher. Marica and Stephen met in 2004 when they were both selected as Flexible Learning Leaders in New Zealand. They sat next to each another at the Induction Workshop and very quickly found themselves engaged in sharing stories. For starters they discovered that they were both ex-chemistry teachers! Their joint love of stories and blogging has kept them connected as colleagues and friends ever since.
