The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is responsible for funding all post-compulsory education and training offered by universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, wānanga, private training establishments, foundation education agencies, industry training organisations and adult and community education providers in New Zealand.
The TEC takes an active role in facilitating collaboration and cooperation in the tertiary education system, and greater system connectedness to wider New Zealand businesses, communities, iwi and enterprises.
Within the context of this eFest: Making the change Real, TEC has helped educators define best practice and build eLearning capacity through the eLearning Collaborative Development Fund (eCDF).
This fund was established in 2003. The final round was held in 2005/6 with projects selected in that round due to finish in mid 2007. The fund was set up to improve the tertiary education sector's ability to deliver eLearning that makes quality education more readily available, as well as to help foster greater cooperation on eLearning initiatives amongst tertiary education organisations.
The fund made $28 million available over the four years to 30 June 2007.
Sessions which tell the success stories from eCDF rounds are included throughout the conference programme and there will also be exhibition space for some of these projects at eFest.
