Vanessa James
Lasting Impressions - Coromandel Community Digital Storytelling Project


Vanessa James is an experienced workshop facilitator, and documentary film-maker currently involved in developing an archive of digital stories regarding the Coromandel community. Vanessa grew up in the Coromandel and her family has lived there for five generations. The purpose of this project is to record and preserve the history and memories of the Coromandel using Digital Storytelling. So far we have collected 45 Digital Stories and held two (free) public screenings. The intention is that this will be an ongoing project with resources available in the community for people to make their own Digital Stories and share them with the wider community. The participants have ranged in age from 16 to 86 and the stories cover a wide variety of topics from history to immigration and family.

The perenial debate - quality - who's responsibility?


This poster will portray the current initiative at the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic to encourage a minimum standard for any courses that have resources on the learning management system (Moodle).

Accessibility and usability: Developing standards at the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand


Cheryl is an instructional designer with the Open Polytechnic. The Open Polytechnic has a commitment to usability and accessibility in  Online Campus. The poster outlines the process we are currently going through to come up with a set of standards  for developing and sharing these standards amongst instructional designers, multi media, moderating and developing staff as well as tutors.
